Program Mission |
The UConn Connects program is an intervention program to help students be more successful academically. The Connects program pairs each student with a staff or peer facilitator who will guide them through the semester. The facilitators are highly knowledgeable about the University and are trained to help the student with specific problems or issues that may arise during the semester. |

Required Skills |
Peer facilitators must be in good academic standing and willing to assist students in their times of academic difficulty. They must be considerate of the personal needs and issues surrounding their student(s). They should be comfortable sharing information about keys to academic and personal success, while mindful of issue of confidentiality. The also need to be able to meet with their student(s) on a regular basis, in general once every two weeks. |

Training |
All facilitators are required to enroll in HDFS 288: Helping Students in Higher Education. This course will present successful intervention strategies, tips, and expectations of both the facilitators and their assigned students. |
